Freeman Michaels, the founder of Service to Self, believes
that we are all put on this planet to be of service. The
service, as Freeman puts it, begins with us. We must be
of service to our selves in order to give fully to others.
But giving to others is paramount to the principles Freeman
teaches and lives by.
Service to Self LLC, is a "for profit" that supports
"non profit" entities that promote self reliance,
growth, healing and sustainability. There are several programs
that Freeman feels especially connected to. These include,
Homeboy Industries, Mankind Project, and
8 Around The World.

Homeboy became an independent nonprofit
in August of 2001, and has since grown into a national model.
This year, we will celebrate our 20th anniversary as an
organization in our new headquarters located in downtown
Los Angeles, just two blocks from Union Station. Homeboy
serves as a beacon of hope and opportunity for those seeking
to leave gang life, for whom the barriers and challenges
are great, and for whom there is virtually no other avenue
to enter the mainstream.
The ManKind Project® is a global
not for profit organization that supports a new way of being
for men – with the hope of creating a new culture.
The ManKind Project (MKP) is not affiliated with any religious
practice or political party. All beliefs are welcome. MKP
strives to be increasingly inclusive and affirming of cultural
differences, especially with respect to color, class, sexual
orientation, faith, age, ability, ethnicity, and nationality.
8 Around The World" is a non
profit organization dedicated towards thinking, meditating,
and praying about peace for non-violent solutions to all
disputes and for a shift to true cooperation throughout
the world. Each day at 8h and 10h (8am and 8pm) for five
minutes we pause to join those in our time zone and those
half a world away, focusing on peace and cooperation. Within
24 hours, the whole world will be included.
